Put your Best Foot Forward
Women come in all shapes and sizes and, fortunately, so does clothing. When I hear someone say that they can’t find anything that suits them, I know it is because they either have not looked hard enough or because they are not willing to try new things. I remember when three quarter sleeves became very fashionable a few years ago – I was hesitant to try them on and only did so because my brother pushed me to. At the end of the day they looked great and became a staple in my wardrobe.
When it came to looking for plus sized clothing, I naturally decided to be a little more adventurous than I would previously have allowed myself to be. I completely ignored all the big, baggy tops and dresses because I felt that they made me look frumpy. My first foray into the plus sized clothing was something of a disaster though. Trousers were the worst – if they fit around the hips, they were too big at the waist. I almost despaired of finding any plus sized clothing that fit me properly when I learned a simple trick – tailoring. Tailoring the garments meant that I could get the perfect fit, not too tight or too loose. I think that, as ladies, we don’t often think about tailoring our clothes – men, on the other hand, have done so for years. It is time to take a lead from the men in our lives on this one.
Of course, I did find some great plus sized clothing once I realized that I really only had to fit it to the largest part of my body. Wanting a somewhat different look, I instinctively went for the more fitted and form-fitting outfits. I did try on some of the looser plus sized clothing but found that it really didn’t look quite as good. Contrary to what one would think, the more form-fitting plus sized clothing actually makes you look slimmer.
I also decided to steer clear of impulsive fashion purchases and spent my money on more expensive items. To this day, I still have a number of these garments and they still look great. For work-wear that has a good lifespan, you have to choose natural fabrics. My weakness is for skirts and jackets made out of pure wool. I make sure that they are fully lined when I buy them and find that I get tired of them long before they begin to wear out. A great argument can be made for quality over quantity here. The same goes for shoes – I only buy leather shoes now. They look better and your feet can breathe a lot better in them. My best advice to you is to follow my example – don’t settle for second-best when it comes to clothing.

Update your Look with Make-Up
You
may recently had a good spring-clean once in a while and cleared out all
your“fat” clothes because of an article you may recently read – it can be pretty
motivating and can give you an enormous sense of pride. You should feel proud –
it is quite grown-up to get rid of the clothing errors made in the past and to
focus your attention on buying plus size
dresses Australia from
scratch. What a lot of women forget though is that the make-over doesn’t end
once you have found the perfect plus size dresses Australia . You will
need to rethink all your accessories and the make-up that you use as well. There
is nothing that can date a look more quickly as old-fashioned make-up and you
will find that not even the most fashionable plus size dresses Australia can make up for that.
What Technique are you Using?
If you need to scrape your make-up off with a spatula,
you are probably doing something wrong. Have you changed the way that have
applied your make-up regularly or is it still the same way it was when you were
a teenager? If nothing much has changed since then, ask yourself if you needed
to wear plus size dresses Australia
as a teenager. Consider the eighties and go ahead and cringe – they broke all
the rules back then. Still think that
you don’t need to change? Just like your skin cream needs to change as you grow
older, so does your make-up. Skin loses radiance with age and is not as
flawless as it used to be. You probably have lines and wrinkles to worry about
as well. Creating a more up to date look that matches your new plus size dresses Australia
will make you look and feel a lot better about yourself.
Check with the make-up counter at your local department
store whether or not they offer a free makeover. The consultants are going to
try and sell you something but you will get a pretty good idea of up to date
make-up techniques. Keep up to date with the current styles and techniques by keeping
an on fashion mags or searching online for make-up advice. You will find that the
proper application of your makeup can help make you look years younger.
Check the Colors that you Use
If, for instance, you have suddenly discovered plus size dresses Australia
in different colors than what you would normally wear, you will have to adjust
your make-up accordingly. When we wear colors that are ill-suited, we tend to
look unwell and ashen and may need to apply make-up in brighter colors to
compensate. Once you have discovered the right clothes in the right colors,
this same look may be too overpowering and could need to be toned down.
Also, colors change as the seasons change and you could
end up finding that you are looking out of date simply because you haven’t kept
up to date with the latest make-up trends. Of course, you ought to work on at
least one neutral, great look that you can pull out of the hat to suit any
occasion but, for the most part, you need to shake it up every now and then in
order to keep your look young and fresh.
